Navigating parenthood: Expert tips and advice

Parenthood is a journey filled with joy, love, and, at times, chaos and frustration. As parents, we often find ourselves seeking guidance and support to navigate the challenges that come with raising little ones. In a world full of information at our finger tips, it can be hard to know who to trust. That's where our blog comes in - a valuable resource offering expert advice and tricks to help you along the way. Our team of seasoned doulas and parents have come together to share their wealth of knowledge and experience with you.

Whether you're a first-time parent or a seasoned pro, there's always something new to learn when it comes to raising children. every child, and every new stage will bring new challenges. From newborn care tips to managing toddler tantrums, we've got you covered. lets get you started with a few tips.

1- One of the keys to successful parenting is being open to learning and growing. Parenthood is a journey of constant evolution, knowing when to ask for help or advice while also understanding what worked for other parents or With your other children may not work for this child. Sometimes we have to accept that we don't know everything and there is nothing wrong with that.

2- "Going with the flow" is more than an expression, its an art. our society values those who have strict routines and structures, they utilize every second of their day for peek productivity. As a Doula I can tell you- Babies go on their own schedule from day one. babies are rarely born on their due dates, and we wait around for them to let us know when they want to come, and its never when we want them to come. learning how to improvise, reschedule, cancel, or simply accepting that our plans will "be what it will be" this is when we stop stressing and start enjoying these moments with our littles.

3- when it comes to children they can be a little unpredictable. weather its a diaper blow out, dumping their drink all over their lap, or a potty training fail it pays to be prepared. Always have spare diapers, clothes or wipes stashed away for an emergency in the car, in multiple rooms of the house or on the go. My "baby brother" is 21 years old and my parents still keep baby wipes on hand for cleaning tables, sticky hands, or freshening up.

4- when your sleep deprived, trying to navigate how to care for your new baby or overwhelmed by how you will entertain all of your kids today, get out of the house.

go for a walk down the street, meet up with a friend, or find a play group in your area. not only can the fresh air and change of scenery make a difference for your mental health but it can also help regulate circadian rhythm, physically and mentally play the kids out to hopefully make bedtime a breeze.

5- My final and possibly most important tip- take time for yourself. You cant pour from an empty cup, and being burnt out and mentally drained is hard on the best of days, but factor in raising kids and it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. Find a hobby, activity, book club, anything to give you a break and take the time to wind down, recharge, and enjoy yourself.
